The Organic Cotton Collection

The Organic Cotton Collection

In collaboration with our partner Oshadi Collective in Erode, India, our Organic Cotton Collection is woven with care and created with consciousness. Each piece is made with organic cotton and colored using natural or organic dyes. They’re hand-washable, and ready for all of life’s journeys and adventures. This is truly a collection made from Mother Earth, for Mother Earth, and designed to be loved by generations to come.

The dying process is a collaboration between human hands and nature herself. Some of the dyes are organic, while others are derived from plants - the latter of which are greatly impacted by the seasons of Mother Earth! Indigo leaf for vibrant blues, madder root for deep reds, and turmeric, myrobalan and marigold for bright, sunshine yellows. Every color, every hue is harvested from the soil to create a work of art that honors and reflects the cycles of Mother Earth.
Indeed, many hands pass over each piece during its creation. Some are handwoven - a process that uses large, wooden, man-powered looms that require practiced harmony of motion and rhythm. The process of block-printing by hand requires immense skill and diligence as well, as teak blocks are dipped in the various natural dyes and plant pigments. The blocks are then aligned and pressed precisely, over and over again, to create unique patterns and designs.
