Welcome to Summer,
radiant children of the Earth!

The rebirth of the Sun that began on Winter Solstice, December 21st, has carried us through a gentle growth of Spring’s renewal. After the flowering and pollination of May, we now join the Sun and celebrate its climactic fullness, fruition and peak of solar strength with the longest day of the year officially starting Summer on June 21st.

Watering can illustration Summer is the season to draw on the roots and dreams we have cultivated all year, to connect to the inner fire of our solar plexus, our joy and unique sense of purpose – and to alchemize these energies into rightful action.

There is a lot of creative and collaborative energy available. The days are the longest, and our gardens need our sweat, work, time and presence in order to become abundant paradises that will nourish us and our loved ones for months to come.

Now we practice the commitment and the joy that it takes to parent land, ourselves and others into glorious fruition, knowing that it is our divine responsibility and right to do so.

As you channel the Sun’s power of transformation, take care not to burn too hot in the flaming fires of this season. Look around, and you’ll see the Earth Mother is providing you what you need to balance the high solar/ yang energies of Summer with cooling and moistening yin herbs and foods. Watering can illustration Cucumbers, watermelon, mint, lemon balm and tulsi will keep you hydrated, replenished, calm and balanced.

Stay grounded and heart centered to ensure your sense of purpose does not shift into inflamed ego or power dynamics. Remember the ecosystem of our modern culture thrives on the intensity humans can generate so maintain a deep commitment to keep one foot in deep time, connected to Earth pace, at all times. Spending time laying under the stars and bathing in the dark of the night will help.

When you cultivate balance within yourself, you feed the forces of balance upon the Earth.

Illustration Famous for her anti-depressant qualities, her spirit uplifts and her flowers, leaves and stems can be infused in an olive oil to make a red, healing oil or salve that protects skin from the Sun and heals wounds.

Tree: Oak — The Oak is a Great Father Tree, an ecosystem in itself. The wholeness and holiness of this sacred tree mirrors the glory of the Sun in its greatest matury, the peak of its journey.
